After work on Friday, a small group of us crossed the street to take in the Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball game at Shaw Park.
What did we see? Sponsorship activations galore!
On the concourse, Rogers had a tent where you can play with the new HTC smartphone and enter to win various prizes. Each of us walked away with a pair of branded “Wayfarers” and a pack of gum.
It was hard to ignore the backlit concourse sign hanging above our seats promoting a local company. It was also hard to ignore the low-res imagery that was used for the sign.
Orville and Bryan were approached to participate in the Sumo Race, sponsored by Serta Mattress Company. In-between the 3rd and 4th inning, they were dressed up in sumo suits and raced down an on-field obstacle course to win prizes. Bryan and Orv each won a mini Serta sheep that they gave away to some kids who were getting their faces painted.
On your mark… get set… SUMO!
Even after the game, fan services reps were at the exits handing out vouchers for free Subway sandwiches.
After all these years, the Goldeyes are still providing a sponsorship activation option that many local businesses (including some of our clients) take advantage of. Many Winnipeggers–whether they are avid baseball fans, or attending their first game–take notice.
(Oh yeah, the Goldeyes lost 4-3. But that detail probably won’t be included in the stories we tell about that evening.)
Special thanks to the Goldeyes production staff
This past weekend Colette and I participated in our first Challenge for Life walk. It’s a big commitment – each walker must raise a minimun of $1000 for CancerCare Manitoba, and then walk 20 Km. Our team “ThunderStrut” would like to thank all people who donated. The event generated an inspiring $955,000 for Cancer Research. We survived the walk, and were excited to see that Maxim was a sponsor of the event as well. We enjoyed looking at the beautifully branded trucks along the route!
We have a new intern in our office. His name is Potato.
Despite the fact that this week has technically been a short week here in Canada, it has been a really long week.
The good news: we’re starting to get cozy in our new Winnipeg office.
The bad news: Anthony’s sick and has a glandular leak.
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks here at the C+H Winnipeg office. Moving furniture, working from home, spending a week in half of our office like a bunch of hoarders, putting down/sanding/varathaning our new osb floor. We do it all. Oh and we also got some dead animals to throw around the office.
To introduce our new intern, Andrew, we decided to draw his portrait.

BONUS! Blind contour!
This is music hunting at it’s finest.
I have been using We Are Hunted more and more lately. I am still exploring and discovering but it’s proving to be quite fascinating.
We Are Hunted is a way to discover new music from around the web that tries to understand and detect what people like and dislike. They use everything from Facebook, MySpace and message boards to forums, Twitter and p2p networks. All of this to guage top online songs at the current time.
There are a few charts to choose from, main charts. Twitter charts, remixes or genres. Apparently, you can also contribute to the lists and make your own charts. It looks like a lot of fun and a great new way to find new or emerging music!
“So many websites are too complex, too wordy, too long. I wanted this site to be digestible in three seconds … to deliver users exactly what they want — amazing, new music, every day.” – Nick Crocker, We Are Hunted founder, May 2009.
On the weekend Chris and I got tickets to Centrex! For those who don’t know what Centrex is, it can be summed up in a couple words: “a star studded, food filled booze romp.” Let me take you through a guided tour.
It looks like any other escalator……..
But once you are up those stairs, its an oasis of bbq, chicken fingers, and beer!
First stop Iron Chef
Chris thought it was impressive!
Iron Chef was intense! and I got a little sweaty, so I thought I would freshen up.
Look who we found!
In his commercials he always says you’ll find him. And that we did!
Now chris needs to freshen up.
All that excitement and we got all tuckered out…..
